The Council Outdoor Adventures & Camping Committee oversees all year-round outdoor programs, summer camps, properties, and facility enhancements across Monmouth Council properties. Our mission is simple: to provide safe, high-quality, inspiring outdoor environments where Scouts can build character, master outdoor skills, and forge lifelong memories.
Whether planning a weekend unit campout, sending a Scout to summer camp, or lending a hand to improve our properties, our team is here to support your Scouting journey.
Committee Meetings & Leadership
All interested Scouters, adult leaders, and volunteers are invited to join us for our monthly joint Camping & Properties Committee meetings.
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM
Location: Mary & Carl Gross Executive Conference Room (Council Service Center)
Who Can Attend: Open to all registered adult leaders and interested volunteers.
Our Premier Camping Properties
The committee currently maintains and operates two outstanding outdoor facilities designed for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA troops, Venturing crews, and community partners.
🌲 Quail Hill Scout Reservation (Manalapan, NJ)
Situated locally in Central Jersey, Quail Hill offers year-round weekend cabin camping, tent campsites, shooting sports facilities, training centers, and day camp/overnight summer programs.
Cabin Facilities: Offers heated winter cabins like McDowell Lodge, Hogan Lodge, and Devlin Lodge equipped with bunks and electricity.
Features: Archery & BB ranges, outdoor pavilions, parade field, and hiking trails.
⛺ Forestburg Scout Reservation (Forestburgh, NY)
Nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, Forestburg is our flagship wilderness reservation offering summer resident camps, high-adventure water programs, and extended weekend wilderness camping.
Volunteer Corps & Supporting Committees

The Campbuilder Corps
The Campbuilder Corps is a team of skilled and unskilled volunteers who take on construction, maintenance, and improvement projects at our properties.
What They Do: Projects range from small maintenance tasks (painting, fire-ring construction) to major infrastructure work (roofing, rebuilding rifle ranges, latrine construction).
Who Can Join: Anyone! Whether you’re a licensed electrician, plumber, carpenter, or simply handy with basic tools, your time and effort make a massive difference.
Work Days: Scheduled Campbuilder weekends take place throughout the year at both properties.
The Campmaster Corps
Campmasters are trained adult volunteer leaders who serve as weekend hosts at Quail Hill and Forestburg.
Role: Campmasters check in incoming units, assist Scoutmasters and Cubmasters with facility access, monitor safety procedures, provide local weather/trail guidance, and check out units at the end of their weekend stays.
Properties & Material Donations
The Properties Committee maintains an ongoing wish list of building supplies, tools, heavy equipment, and construction materials.
Have extra lumber or tools from a home improvement project?
Know local contractors or vendors willing to donate excess materials?
Contact our Council Service Center to coordinate a donation or to schedule a troop service project.
Financial Assistance: The Campership Fund
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the magic of summer camp. The Council Campership Fund provides confidential financial assistance to local Scouting families in need.
Purpose: Helps cover summer camp registration fees for Quail Hill or Forestburg programs.
Application Period: Opens annually in the spring; applications are reviewed confidentially by the Campership Committee.
Support the Fund: You can directly sponsor a child’s week at camp by making a tax-deductible donation to the Campership Fund.
