Celebrating Excellence: Council Awards & Recognition

Behind every great Scouting adventure, badge earned, and community project completed is a dedicated network of adult volunteers, youth leaders, and community partners. The Awards & Recognition program honors those who give extraordinary time, energy, and heart to make Scouting impactful for our youth.

Adult Leader & Volunteer Recognition

ecognizing adult volunteers is vital to keeping our Scouting community strong. Whether serving at the unit, district, or council level, our leaders deserve applause for their tireless service.

🌟 Silver Beaver Award

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest distinguished service award a local council can bestow upon an adult volunteer. It recognizes registered Scouters who have made outstanding, long-term contributions to the lives of youth through service to the council and the broader community.

⚜️ District Award of Merit

The District Award of Merit is the highest honor presented by an individual district to an adult volunteer. It acknowledges individuals who render noteworthy service to youth at the district level across Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scouting.

🎖️ Scouter Training Key & Leader Awards

Scouting America offers a variety of tenure and training awards for adult leaders who complete position-specific training, fulfill performance goals, and serve a specified period in their role (Cubmasters, Den Leaders, Scoutmasters, Advisors, Committee Chairs, etc.).

Youth Leadership & Achievement Awards

While rank advancement marks a Scout’s journey, several specialized awards recognize youth who go above and beyond in leadership, outdoor achievement, and duty to God.

  • National Medal for Extrication & Lifesaving: Honors Scouts who have performed an act of heroism or lifesaving under extreme conditions.

  • National Outdoor Badges: Recognizes Scouts BSA members who demonstrate exemplary outdoor skills, camping experience, hiking, aquatics, and conservation.

  • Religious Emblems Programs: Encourages Scouts to grow stronger in their faith through structured programs offered by various religious organizations.

  • Messengers of Peace: Recognizes youth who design and execute service projects that create positive change and peace within their local communities.

  1. Review Criteria: Download the appropriate nomination form above to verify eligibility requirements.

  2. Gather Support: Collect letters of recommendation and service records highlighting the nominee’s contributions.

  3. Submit Nominations: Send completed forms to the Council Awards & Recognition Committee by the annual submission deadline.
