Council Alumnus of the Year
Honoring a Lifetime of Leadership, Achievement, and Service
The Scouting Alumnus of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition presented to adult alumni who have used the values, character, and skills learned in Scouting to achieve extraordinary success in their careers, make lasting contributions to their communities, and maintain an enduring commitment to the Scouting movement.
First established to celebrate the lifelong impact of Scouting, this award highlights alumni whose personal and professional journeys serve as an inspiration to today’s youth—proving that the lessons learned in Scouting build leaders for a lifetime.
Eligibility & Nomination Criteria
The Scouting Alumnus of the Year Award honors individuals whose lives exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in action long after their youth involvement.
To be eligible for the Council Alumnus of the Year Award, a nominee must meet the following general criteria:
Scouting Background: Must be a former youth member or adult volunteer of Scouting America.
Professional & Civic Achievement: Must have achieved notable success, distinction, or leadership in their professional career, military service, public service, or personal endeavors.
Community Leadership: Outstanding contributions and service to civic, educational, religious, or charitable organizations outside of Scouting are heavily considered.
Continued Support for Scouting: Must demonstrate ongoing advocacy, mentorship, volunteer service, or philanthropic support for the Scouting movement.
No Self-Nomination: Candidates must be nominated by fellow Scouters, alumni, community members, or local council committees.
