For more than 100 years, Scouting has helped build future leaders by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun and adventure in the outdoors. We care passionately about what is happening to Scouts and our communities – and are dedicated to supporting an exciting, quality program that builds better young people and our future leaders.
Scouting America is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement, and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as Scouts lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
At its heart, the Scouting America advancement program isn’t about checking boxes or winning trophies—it’s a roadmap for character, confidence, and leadership.
Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure guide where young people try new things, step out of their comfort zones, and get recognized for their achievements. Because Scouting spans different ages, the advancement program grows alongside your child.
At Scouting America, we believe that leadership isn’t just something you are born with—it is a skill you build. Our structured, world-class training programs are designed to empower both youth and adult leaders with the practical skills, safety knowledge, and character to lead with confidence.
Whether you are a parent stepping up to guide a unit or a young person ready to lead your peers, we provide the exact roadmap you need to succeed.
When youth join Scouting America, they step into a world of outdoor discovery, leadership building, and unforgettable adventures. For parents and new adult volunteers, the natural question is: How do we keep everyone safe out there?
The answer is our deeply rooted “Culture of Safety.” Developed alongside top national experts in child safety, law enforcement, and medicine, Scouting America’s safety framework is one of the strongest and most respected youth protection programs in the country
The Scouting America awards program isn’t just about filling up a uniform sash or ribbon rack—it is a powerful tool designed to recognize personal growth, leadership, and service to the community.
For youth, these awards provide concrete milestones that build character and resilience. For adult leaders, they serve as both a roadmap for successful leadership and a well-deserved “thank you” for investing in the next generation.
