Telling the Story of Scouting America and Inspiring the Next Generation of Leaders

The Council Marketing & Communications Committee is dedicated to promoting the value, impact, and excitement of Scouting across our local communities. We craft the council’s public message, manage digital and print media, support unit membership recruitment, and ensure that families across our region understand how Scouting America prepares young people for life.

Whether you are a professional marketer, graphic designer, social media manager, photographer, writer, or public relations strategist, our committee offers an exciting platform to use your creative talents to grow Scouting.

Mission & Core Objectives

Our committee works hand-in-hand with council staff, district leaders, and local units to achieve four primary goals:

  • Drive Membership Recruitment: Developing high-impact marketing materials, flyer templates, digital ad campaigns, and social media toolkits that help local packs, troops, and crews recruit new youth and families year-round.

  • Enhance Brand Awareness: Sharing inspiring stories of Scout achievements, community service projects, Eagle Scout accomplishments, and outdoor adventures through press releases, local news outlets, and digital channels.

  • Streamline Digital Communications: Managing the council’s social media channels, email newsletters, and public messaging to keep current families informed and engaged.

  • Support Council Events & Fundraising: Designing collateral, promotional videos, and campaign materials for major council events, camp programs, and annual giving initiatives (like Friends of Scouting).

Free Marketing Resources for Unit Leaders

We empower local Scout leaders with professional marketing tools to make recruiting simple and effective:

  • Customizable Recruitment Flyers: Access ready-to-print flyers, social media graphics, and peer-invitation cards for your unit’s Join Scouting nights.

  • Social Media Toolkits: Plug-and-play graphics, sample posts, and best practices for managing your pack or troop’s Facebook page or Instagram account.

  • Scouting America Brand Center Access: Official logos, high-resolution photography, brand guidelines, and national promotional videos.

  • Media & PR Templates: Pre-written press release templates to help your unit share Eagle Scout announcements, charter milestones, or major service projects with local newspapers.
